“I listened to Scott Seargeant give a very interesting presentation at the 2026 IAPD/IPRA Conference. I had never even considered forensic analysis or general litigation for tree damage prior to hearing him speak, so it was very eye-opening.

He included photos that improved my understanding of how trees respond to disease and injury. I am a landscape architect with not a very in-depth understanding of trees, so seeing the samples and all the signs you can tell based on tree rings, coloration, bark layers, and other factors gave me some great insight, especially because I am typically basing tree health on easily visible exterior factors.

His presentation also included topics of general tree behaviors and understanding, such as trees adding cells when injured, why they cover up and try to hide disease and injury, and the differences between elements and nutrients when it comes to trees creating energy.

Overall, Scott Seargeant is extremely knowledgeable on trees and their health. The presentation was fantastic and made me excited for the future of tree protection laws (which I had never previously considered). It seems this type of litigation is only becoming more necessary as climate conditions become harsher and canopy coverage becomes more valuable.”

“I want to give a big thank you to Scott Seargeant for his great service. He was able to complete my tree removal and share crucial tree knowledge. The appointment set up was easy, and he gave me an overview of what would happen once he arrived.

I’m removing the tree because it will eventually cause foundation damage, and I’m planning to replace it with a black tulip tree. He shared with me that I’d need to remove the stump completely so it wouldn’t be detrimental to the soil. He also recommended planting the new tree 5ft away from that location. Without this piece of information, I would have used a stump grinder and planted the tree in the same spot. Thanks, Scott, for saving me money and my future new tree.

When he arrived, he got right to work and efficiently removed the tree, completed the clean up of the site, and filled in the hole.
