When Lightning Strikes Your Trees
An Unusual Chain of Events
I received a call, “Lightning just hit my tree, and my house!”
I arrived to assess the incident and formulate a cost to replace the damage to the landscape. A coastal redwood had been struck by lightning but what I saw looked more like a bomb exploded in their front yard.
There was a lot of collateral damage to the yard and house. I inspected the landscape and through Forensic Analysis piece together what happened after the lightning hit the tree.
